Taanach ~ ታዕናክ: The name “Taanach” means who humbles thee; who answers thee (ትሑት), HBN, a sandy place, an ancient royal city of the Canaanites. Its king was conquered by Joshua (Jos 12:21). It was assigned to the Levites of the family of Kohath (Jos 17:11-18; 21:25). It is mentioned in the song of Deborah (Jud 5:19).
Tabbath ~ ጠባት: The name “Tabbath” means good; goodness (እጹባት), HBN, famous, a town in the tribe of Ephraim
(Jud 7:22), to the south of Bethshean, near the Jordan.
Tabeal ~ ጣብኤል: goodness of God (እጹበ ኤል), EBD, the father of one whom the kings of
Syria and Samaria in vain attempted to place on the throne of Ahaz (Isa 7:6).
Taberah ~ ተቤራ: The name “Taberah” means burning (ተበራ), HBN, a place in the wilderness of Paran, where the "fire of
the Lord" consumed the murmuring Israelites (Num 11:3; Deut 9:22).
Tabitha ~ ጣሊታ: “Tabitha” means gazelle (ጹቢት), SBD, also called Dorcas by St.
Luke; a female disciple of Joppa, "full of good works" among which
that of making clothes for the poor is specifically mentioned. While St. Peter
was at the neighboring town of Lydda, Tabitha died; upon which the disciples at
Joppa sent an urgent message to the apostle begging him to come to them without
delay. Upon his arrival Peter found the deceased already prepared for burial,
and laid out in an upper chamber, where she was surrounded by the recipients
and the tokens of her charity after the example of our Saviour in the house of
Jairus, (Mat 9:25; Mar 5:40).
Tabor ~ ታቦር: “Tabor” means a mound (ተራራ), SBD,

Jebel et-Tur, a cone-like prominent mountain. The view from the summit of it is
said to be singularly extensive and grand. This is alluded to in Psa 89:12; Jer
46:18.

town of Zebulum (1 Chr 6:77).
3. The
"plain of Tabor" (1 Sam 10:3) should be, as in the Revised Version,
"the oak of Tabor.".
Tabrimon ~ ጠብሪሞን: Good is Rimmon (ጹብ ሪሞን), EBD, the father of Benhadad, king of Syria (1
Kin 15:18).
Tadmor ~ ተድሞር: “Tadmor” means city of palms (ተምራም), SBD, a city built by Solomon
"in the wilderness" (2 Chr 8:4).
Tahan ~ ታሐን: “Tahan” means camp (ሰፈራ), SBD, a descendant of Ephraim.
(Num 26:35).
Tahath ~ ታሐት: “Tahath” means station (ማረፊያ), SBD
“And

contention, HBN, son of Micah and grandson of

Talmai ~ ተላሚ፣ ተልማይ: Abounding in furrows (ትልም), EBD
1. One
of the Anakim of Hebron, who were slain by the men of Judah under Caleb (Num
13:22; Jos 15:14; Jud 1:10).

king of Geshur, to whom Absalom fled after he had put Amnon to death (2 Sam
3:3; 13:37).
Tamah ~ ቴማ: “Tamah” means laughter (ሳቂታ), SBD, The children of Tamah or
Thamah, (Ezr 2:53) were among the Nethinim who returned with Zerubbabel. (Neh
7:55)
Tamar ~ ታማር፣ ትዕማር: The name ‘Tamar’ is derived from ‘Temr’ (ተምር) ፥ the meaning is ‘palm
tree’.

town in the valley or lowland of Judah; formerly a royal city of the Canaanites

to Manasseh, but the "city" to Ephraim (Jos 17:8).

Teraphim ~ ተራፊም: Givers of prosperity (ትችፋም), EBD, idols in human shape, large or small,
analogous to the images of ancestors which were revered by the Romans. (1 Sam 19:13-16).

the Thermaic bay. It was the capital of one of the four Roman districts of

Theudas ~ ቴዎዳስ: Thanksgiving (ተወዳሽ), EBD, referred to by Gamaliel in his speech
before the council at Jerusalem (Act 5:36).
Thomas ~ ቶማስ: The name “Thomas” means a twin (መንታ), HBN, one of the twelve (Mat 10:3; Mar 3:18, etc.). He was also called
Didymus (Joh 11:16; 20:24), which
is the Greek equivalent of the Hebrew name.
Thummim ~ ቱሚም: The name “Thummim” means perfection;
truth (ታማኝ), HBN, (Ex 28:30; Deut 33:8; Jud 1:1; 20:18; 1 Sam 14:3,18; 23:9;2 Sam 21:1)
Thyatira ~ ትያጥሮን: The name “Thyatira” means a perfume(ሽቶ);
